Director, Healing Warrior Society Program
International Master Peter Estrada is a 6th Degree Black Belt who has been a student of the martial arts for over 30 years. He began his Tang Soo Do training at 14 under Grandmaster David Sgro. A martial arts prodigy, he expeditiously advanced through the art. He earned his black belt in 2008, and shortly after opened his first studio while attending undergraduate school – Tang Soo Do Ho Sin Sul, Buies Creek. In 2011, Master Estrada joined the Atlantic Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation and became a direct student to Grandmaster John St. James.
Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, Master Estrada moved to Abilene, Texas for a graduate assistant position at Hardin-Simmons University working in the sports medicine department. It was there where he established Abilene Karate Academy, from 2013-2020. While supporting the growth and development for that studio from a distance, Master Estrada moved to San Antonio, Texas where he was presented an opportunity to develop the Air Force Special Warfare Sports Medicine Program at Lackland, AFB. While there, he opened San Antonio Karate Academy from 2019-2023. Many of Master Estrada's students from Abilene Karate and San Antonio Karate Academy have successfully opened their own studios in their communities and continue to train under his tutelage today.
In 2021, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, he opened Rising Phoenix Tang Soo Do in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he provides leadership and martial arts training from afar to the students of Rising Phoenix. Master Estrada, again, was presented with an opportunity to establish the Operational Support Team Program at Tinker AFB, relocated to the great state of Oklahoma where he also established the Oklahoma Institute of Martial Arts in 2024. Master Estrada currently serves as the Regional Director for Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation's Southwest and Texas Regions as well as the Program Director for the Healing Warrior Society.
While primarily teaching traditional Tang Soo Do, Master Estrada has also had the privilege of teaching tactical combative courses to our military service members to include U.S. Special Warfare candidates, Delta Force, Security Forces, and law enforcement academies. His livelihood is that of civil service to his country in support of the United States Air Force as the Program Director for Operational Support Team, 72nd Medical Group Life Support, and the 72nd Air Base Wing Fitness Improvement.
Master Estrada earned a Bachelor of Science at Campbell University, a Master of Education in Kinesiology at Hardin-Simmons University, and an Advanced Practice Doctorate of AT – Sports Medicine at A.T. Still University. Furthermore, he is a Board-Certified and licensed Orthopedic Specialist, Athletic Trainer, and Exercise Physiologist. Master Estrada's journey is one where passion meets purpose, continuous learning, teaching, and sharing the martial arts sciences, and striving to embody our Federation's Seven Tenants of Integrity, Concentration, Perseverance, Respect & Obedience, Self-control, Humility, and last but not lease, Indomitable Spirit.
