Our Certified Instructors & CIT

Our instructors have a passion for teaching and working with students to identify their goals, overcome obstacles, grow, and achieve those goals. Whether that be in gaining physical confidence and greater peace of mind through learning self-defense; personal confidence and growth through the adaptation of principles such as leadership, dedication, perseverance and focus; or simply living better through living healthier both mentally and physically, our instructors are dedicated to your success.

What does it mean to be a "Certified Instructor"?

As a member studio of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation, OKIMA instructors enroll, train, graduate and are certified through the APTSDF's Certified Instructor Training (CIT) program. "Instructor" being the title of the most distinguished position held in all martial arts, we take seriously the role of instructor and more importantly the training and certification of our instructors in order to best serve our students, our school and our Federation with a level of professionalism that is second to none.

What our students are saying...

I started my martial arts journey with OKIMA in May 2024, and it has been hugely beneficial for me. I've learned valuable skills in self-defense, physical fitness, & building confidence. OKIMA has given me a whole new community to learn and grow with.

Katie McCollum Instructor Trainee - CIT

We have seen our daughter (now 17) benefit greatly from the lessons she has learned in the martial arts. She has applied those lessons, focus, self-determination, commitment and drive, not just to her school work and grades, but anything she takes on in life with incredible results. She has learned, if you put in the work and commit to it, you will see results.

Paul & Michele Lopez Parents

I initially started my Tang Soo Do journey with the intention of pursuing any form of martial arts. Tang Soo Do has helped me gain so much confidence and inner strength. When I switched schools to OKIMA, I saw my Tang Soo Do improving, through the guidance of my excellent instructor and mentor. We're like a big happy family here and it's something I am very grateful to have.

Ash Short Instructor Trainee - CIT

I thought martial arts was just for kids; however, this studio caters to all ages and stages. Tang Soo Do has helped me gain strength and more agility than I had in my life. Anyone can do it! Love the instructors!

Becky Leenheer Student

My family is very active in different activities, but martial arts has become our passion both individually and as a family.

Desirae Cuevas Instructor

I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Master Estrada for 11 years and counting. His experience and depth and breadth of martial arts knowledge combined with his thorough understanding of physical anatomy results in such a high level of instruction, that any opportunity I get to work, train and learn from Dr. Estrada is an invaluable experience. His knowledge is topped only by his willingness to share that knowledge to help others grow. Master Estrada's instruction and approach to the art as a wholistic endeavor has helped me to reshape and simultaneously broaden and refine my approach to both learning and teaching the martial arts. I am grateful for Sir and his dedication to his students and the art.
